Father Matthew Bozovsky is the pastor of Our Lady of Ransom in Niles. Prior to pursuing priesthood, Fr. Bozovsky was both a biologist conducting research in the area of human genetics and a faculty member in the Department of Biology at Loyola University Chicago. He has earned a Master of Science in Biology (2004), a Master of Divinity (2013), and a Licentiate of Sacred Theology (2014). His licentiate thesis explored the relationship between Pope St. John Paul II’s
A Theology of the Body and the documents of the Second Vatican Council.
Father Bozovsky has served as associate pastor of St. Joseph in Libertyville (2013-2016), St. Joseph in Wilmette (2016-2018), and Our Lady of Ransom (2018-2019) prior to being named pastor. He holds appointments as adjunct faculty and spiritual director at the University of St. Mary of the Lake and the Permanent Diaconate Program of the Archdiocese of Chicago. He has been the content editor for both scientific and theological books and offers a variety of talks, retreats and missions.
Fr. Matt was baptized at Our Lady of Ransom parish in 1979, and is happy to be returning to the parish of his spiritual birth.
